Chancellor's PEEQ Action Plan presentation set for Dec. 14

UW-Eau Claire faculty, staff and students are invited to a presentation on the PEEQ Action Plan by Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich Dec. 14 from 3-4 p.m. in Schofield Auditorium.

PEEQ — the Program to Evaluate and Enhance Quality — was a yearlong self-study process to help departments and units evaluate their mission centrality, quality, cost and opportunities for change. Based on recommendations developed by the PEEQ Evaluation Team and in consultation with vice chancellors, deans, directors and chairs, the chancellor has identified ways in which the university can more effectively meet its mission to serve students. He will share his action plan with the campus at the Dec. 14 meeting. The action plan and a video of the presentation will be available on the chancellor’s Web site following the meeting for those unable to attend.

Faculty and staff also will have an opportunity to discuss the action plan with the chancellor during a faculty and staff meeting scheduled for Jan. 26 from 3:30-5 p.m. in Schofield Auditorium.

Faculty, staff invited to Blugold Dining holiday party

Blugold Dining invites UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff to a holiday party from 4-7 p.m. Dec. 17 in The Dulany of Davies Center. The menu, by Blugold Dining executive chef Timothy Grayson, will be accompanied by an array of specially selected wines. The cost is $5 per person. Those interested in attending the party should R.S.V.P. to the Blugold Dining office at 836-5261 by Dec. 15.

Dean of Students Office temporarily moves to Career Services

UW-Eau Claire's Dean of Students Office will be located in the Career Services Office, Schofield Hall Room 230, from Dec. 11 until Jan. 25. Dean of Students Office staff may still be reached at their regular phone numbers. The Dean of Students Office usual location, Schofield Hall Room 240, is being recarpeted and painted.

Governor Doyle's Dec. 9 order closes state offices, UW campuses

In response to the blizzard that has impacted the state, Governor Jim Doyle has ordered the closure of all state government and University of Wisconsin campuses for public business. The Governor's order directs that state employees are not to report to work, unless their job duties include the provision or support of an emergency response, public health, or public safety function, and their absence would compromise delivery of essential public health, public safety, or emergency response functions that are required to continue despite weather conditions.

All UW-Eau Claire classes are canceled today and offices will be closed. Supervisors will contact personnel who must report to work today.

H1N1 vaccine clinic Dec. 10

The last on-campus H1N1 vaccine clinic for the fall semester will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 10 in Hilltop Lounge on UW-Eau Claire's upper campus. The free vaccine is recommended for the following groups:

• Those aged 6 months-24 years.
• Those aged 25-64 who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications.
• Those who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age.
• Pregnant women.
• All health care and emergency medical services personnel.

ORSP to host grantee panel Dec. 9

Proposed suspension of MAT/MST history programs

Based on a recommendation from the department of history and with concurrence of the College of Education and Human Sciences Academic Curriculum Committee, Teacher Education Strategic Planning Council and the UW-Eau Claire Graduate Council, a recommendation was made to indefinitely suspend admissions to the following graduate programs: Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) — History; Master of Science in Teaching (MST) — History; and Master of Science in Teaching (MST) — History/Social Science; as of Nov. 1, 2009. Nominations sought for RA positions

UW-Eau Claire Housing and Residence Life encourages faculty and staff to help identify students who are highly motivated and who exhibit strong leadership skills and a genuine interest in helping others as possible candidates for resident assistant positions for the 2010 spring semester. Nov. 27 is UW-Eau Claire common furlough day

The UW-Eau Claire campus will be closed Friday, Nov. 27, the second of four common furlough days for all UW-Eau Claire employees during the 2009-10 fiscal year. Full-time, 12-month employees must take a total of 16 furlough days during the two-year period beginning July 1, 2009, and ending June 30, 2011. Employees who work less than full time will prorate their furlough days accordingly. The furlough days were mandated for all state and UW System employees by Gov. Jim Doyle in response to a projected state budget shortfall. Additional upcoming common furlough days for 2009-10 are Monday, Dec. 28, and Friday, April 2. Employees had a previous common furlough day Aug. 7. Library staff accepting donations for HMAA fundraiser

The McIntyre Library Staff Association will again accept donations for its annual fundraiser that will benefit the Hmong Mutual Assistance Association.

The association has held the fundraiser for more than a decade, raising thousands of dollars for the HMAA. Last year the effort raised $1,912, which was used to purchase rice for the HMAA food pantry. Anyone is welcome to contribute to the library staff's project. More information.
