Nominations sought for 2012 University Student Excellence Awards

Student Excellence Awards graphicUW-Eau Claire faculty, staff and students are invited to submit nominations for the 2012 University Student Excellence Awards, which recognize outstanding accomplishments of individuals and organizations in areas that reflect the university's core values. Nominations will be open from Jan. 23-Feb. 29 for individual awards and from Jan. 23-March 30 for organization awards. Awards will be presented by the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association, Foundation and University Centers at the annual University Student Excellence Awards reception May 2. McIntyre Library tours to be offered Jan. 30-Feb. 9

McIntyre Library staff members will conduct
30-minute library tours
Jan. 30-Feb. 9, briefly describing services, assistance and collections. Tour times are varied (see schedule below) and are designed to meet the needs of a variety of students. While the tours are student-focused, others also are welcome. Tours will begin in the library's Grand Corridor during the following days and times:
  • 5:30 p.m. Mondays.
  • 3 p.m. Tuesdays.
  • 10 a.m. Wednesdays.
  • Noon Thursdays.

Spring opening meeting set for Jan. 24

The agenda will include a short business meeting for faculty and academic staff to review proposed constitutional changes followed by the chancellor’s remarks, acknowledgement of fall accomplishments and general updates. Flags to be flown at half-staff Jan. 6

Scott Walker, the flag of the United States and the flag of the state of Wisconsin will be flown at half-staff at all buildings, grounds and military installations of the state of Wisconsin beginning at sunrise and ending at sunset Jan. 6, 2012. This will be done as a mark of respect for Army Staff Sgt. Joseph J. Altmann of Marshfield, who lost his life while serving his country in Afghanistan. More information.
