UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff are invited to a two-day workshop titled "Dismantling Racism: The Beginning" from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. May 26 and 27 in the Presidents Room of Davies Center. Dismantling Racism is a process of antiracist organizational assessment and change. Participants undergo a frank and honest evaluation of individual and organizational assumptions and views about race, power and privilege and then commit to an ongoing process of antiracist organizational change. The workshop will help establish the fourth cohort of participants who will become part of a universitywide, multiyear Dismantling Racism process begun in the College of Arts and Sciences in 2008. Many members of the first three cohorts report that they have found the experience to be profoundly rewarding and enlightening.Those interested in participating are asked to e-mail Kathy LaValley at lavallkg@uwec.edu by May 17.
