Spring and summer utility outages announced
The spring 2010 steam outage will be held from 6 p.m. May 22 through 4 p.m. June 1. The outage will result in the following: No potable hot water except in Chancellor's, Thomas and Murray halls, all hall directors' apartments, Zorn Arena, Brewer Hall, Human Sciences and Services, McIntyre Library, Nursing, Crest Wellness Center and Haas Fine Arts (isolated areas). The summer 2010 planned electrical outage is scheduled for 7 a.m.-3 p.m. June 12, and will affect the following buildings: Nursing, Phillips, Schneider and McPhee. Campus Campaign 2010: Supporting departmental funds
A kitchen renovation for UW-Eau Claire's biology department was made possible by the Gordon Bartelt Biology Fund established with the UW-Eau Claire Foundation by Margaret Bartelt, a UW-Eau Claire alumna, in memory of her husband, also a UW-Eau Claire alumnus. Both Margaret and Gordon were biology majors. The fund's income supports faculty and staff development and infrastructure needs in the biology department.
University faculty and staff making gifts to Campus Campaign 2010-11 may designate that their gifts support the Gordon Bartelt Biology Fund or other departmental funds through the UW-Eau Claire Foundation. Learn more about the Gordon Bartelt Biology Fund and Campus Campaign 2010-11.

Staff invited to 'Art and Hors d’oeuvres'
UW-Eau Claire staff members are invited to a Women on Wednesdays "Art and Hors d'oeuvres" gathering at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 3 in the Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The event, sponsored by Women in Higher Education, will allow participants to view "Genesis," the new Foster Gallery exhibit which features award-winning creators who write and illustrate their own narratives. The artists represented — Bill Joyce, Shaun Tan, David Wiesner, Adam Rex and James Gurney — have experience with children’s literature, young adult literature, television, theater and animated films. Foster Gallery director Tom Wagener will discuss the exhibit at 4:45 p.m. Participants are invited to bring a light food item to share or to donate $2 in lieu of an hors d'oeuvre to pass. Beverages will be provided by Women in Higher Education. For more information, contact Faith Pawelski at 715-836-3624 or pawelsfa@uwec.edu.
