St. Bede's open house set for Oct. 27
Parents of children who attend the UW-Eau Claire Children’s Center as well as all UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff are invited to attend an open house at St. Bede Monastery from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Fireside Room at St. Bede's. Both buildings at the St. Bede's facility will be open for touring, and UW-Eau Claire staff members involved with the Children’s Center relocation project will be on hand to answer questions. The facility is located at 1190 Priory Road, Eau Claire. The former monastery will be the relocation site of the Children's Center once its current site, Campus School, is razed to make way for the university's new Education Building. Summer 2012 orientation advisers sought
Faculty and teaching academic staff members are invited to apply to become 2012 summer orientation advisers. The positions are 37½ percent summer positions.
Training sessions will be held June 4-8, 2012. Fifteen one-day sessions will be held during the first three weeks of the eight-week summer session, June 11-29. In addition, advisers will be involved in one-day orientation programs for new students Aug. 20, 2012, and Jan. 18, 2013. Advisers new to orientation will be required to attend two training sessions in April.
Individuals selected for these positions must be current members of the faculty or teaching academic staff who have a commitment to advising, a "track record" of good advising and a real interest in working with first-year students. Those chosen also must have currently assigned advisees within their departments. Advisers must be available for all of the dates listed above. Preference will be given to those who do not teach during the three-week or first four-week summer session.
Additional information and application forms are available online or by contacting Julia Diggins at 715-836-5053 or digginja@uwec.edu. Applications are due Nov. 21.
