Presentations on educational savings, tax-sheltered annuity accounts set for March 8

Saving for college? An introduction to educational savings accounts, educational inflation and several cost-saving strategies will be held from 9-10 a.m. March 8 in the Ho-Chunk Room (320E) of Davies Center.

Saving for retirement? Consider the UW Tax-Sheltered Annuity 403(b) Program. A TSA Basics Workshop will be held from 11 a.m.-noon March 8, also in the Ho-Chunk Room of Davies Center.

The TSA workshop is especially intended for new investors and for those not yet in the TSA Program, however, those with established accounts will find it beneficial as well. The workshop will explain the basics of investing and how to make investment choices.

A Roth 403(b) option is now available. With Roth 403(b) accounts, contributions are included in taxable income in the year they are made, but the account balance and earnings are not taxed when distributed (subject to certain restrictions).

Rob Wolf, TSA Review Committee member and UW-La Crosse finance professor, will lead both presentations. For more information, contact Barbara Bowers at bowersba@uwec.edu or Rob Wolf at rwolf@uwlax.edu.
