Andrew Court, a financial adviser for Ameriprise, will be available to share information with UW-Eau Claire staff members about 403(b) accounts and other financial topics relevant to today's market from 10 a.m.-noon Jan. 24 in the Badger Room of Davies Center. U.S., Wisconsin and Minnesota tax forms are available on the first floor of McIntyre Library near the entrance gate. Forms are for personal use only, as supplies are limited. As directed by Gov. Scott Walker, the flag of the United States and the flag of the state of Wisconsin will be flown at half-staff at all buildings, grounds and military installations of the state of Wisconsin beginning at sunrise and ending at sunset Jan. 6, 2012. This will be done as a mark of respect for Army Staff Sgt. Joseph J. Altmann of Marshfield, who lost his life while serving his country in Afghanistan. More information.

Job seekers and career builders will find the personalized help they need at a workshop titled "Find the Right Career Training and Education" at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire. The workshop, co-sponsored by the Educational Opportunity Centers at UW-Eau Claire, will be presented from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 23 and repeated from 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Jan. 24 in the Chippewa Room on the library's lower level. The Eau Claire chapter of Wisconsin Women in Higher Education Leadership is sponsoring a half-day event Jan. 11, 2012, to help revitalize and show appreciation for women employees before the hustle of the spring semester. The event will be held from noon-4:30 p.m. in the Hilltop Center Lounge and in McPhee 210C. The cost is $15 for admission and lunch; or $20 for admission, lunch and chair massage. Jim Egan, a UW-Eau Claire professor emeritus of economics and registered representative of Lincoln Financial Advisors in Eau Claire, will lead information sessions about the 403b tax-deferred savings programs available to UW-Eau Claire staff members. The sessions will be held Jan. 25 from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Jan. 26 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Birchwood Room of Davies Center. The Lincoln National Corp. is an authorized vendor to the UW System Tax-Deferred Savings (403b) Program. Walk-ins are welcome anytime before or after the information sessions.
